1868. [underscored]
May 15th Wednesday
Miss Galbraith and Mr. Roberts went to Central
P Station taking with them Maria as witness,
just as they were starting at 1/2 past 9 o clk, a
messenger came from the Station to say that the
other two (Charlotte Lindon & Sopha Collins) were taken
Mary had told where they were to be found. The case did
not come on in the morn'g, they came home to dinner and
returned at 2 o clk. Cap't Scott severely reprimanded
them, and sent them to Darlinghurst 3 months.

Thursday 14th
The three above named went this morn'g
again to C. P Station. The girls were sentenced
3 months additional hard labor, and the stolen
property returned to the Refuge, there is
nothing damaged except Mrs. Pauls dress and my hat
which Charlotte had taken.

Friday 15th
Kate Tubman is getting very irritable, I have
told her, she must be removed from the laundry
if she continues so cross. She "makes faces" at the
girls when she is angry and other very unbecoming acts
besides calling names.
Although so much is said against using bad
language by Ministers and by myself yet it seems
so rooted in most of our inmates, that it is so
difficult to stop as a mighty torrent.
