April 29th
Wednesday.
Miss G. left (on leave) at 9 oclk
the "Kaikoura" linen brought at 10 oclk and
only one youth and the Stewardess to count (we
usually have 2 or 3 officers) I sent for
Mrs. Ball as Mrs J. Graham proposed to assist
in taking "tally", but as she could not
write she was of no use.

Mary Mott has been to Sarah Lee's friend
stating that Sarah was very unhappy. The work
too hard, and that she wanted to go out.
I told her friend to call on Friday and see the ladies.
Mr. Roberts took Eliz'th Graham to the Steamer
"Agnes Irving" sailed 10 oclk, Maria Hodnett
went to help carry her box.

Thursday 30th
Jessie Evans came [underlined]drunk[underlined] this morn'g.
(a Man with her) & she said "do take me in"
I told her, I [underlined] could not take her, in that state
but if she brought me a note from Mrs. Goodlet
permitting me to, I would.

Friday May 1st
Kate Barry's Father & Mother called
this morn'g. they "have come again
200 miles on purpose to fetch their only child."
I told them to come this after'n 3 oclk and see the ladies.
Mrs. Barry came at 3 oclk, she was instructed to go
and get a note from the Hon H Parker.
She called again to say Mr. Parker was out, that she
must go again tomorrow.
