April 26th
Sabbath. Susan Atkins stayed away from
service, and whilst Mr Gibson was engaged
reading I sent Kate Barry to ask her, to come in,
she sent word she "would not". I then went
myself and managed with some difficulty and
loss of time to get her to come in.

Monday 27th
Sub Com'e meet 5 ladies present
Sent a note to Hardie & Mitchell,
requesting them to have bread on 1st may.
Mary McAveny [sup]was[sup] called into my room. I charged her with swearing and singing bad songs and told her there was no hope of reformation whilst she used bad language. She promised not to swear any [sup]more[sup]

Teusday [tuesday] 28th
Fanny Leathbarrow was taken by
me, 9oclk this morn'g to the Infirmary.
I went early hoping to get back soon, to prepare
for Tea Party, but did not get her admitted until
1/2 past 11 oclk (such a loss of time), she thought it
unkind of me not to let her stay to the treat.
All the inmates enjoyed themselves very much
this eve'g, we had 17 visitors, besides Mr. Lucas's
4 little children. Eliz'th Graham had her Bible
presented to her in the name of the ladies comm. by
I. Mills Esq'r and excellent advice given to her.
Mr. H. Hassack brought a present of 4 Hymn books,
and one for me. Mr. Armstrong presented to one
a Book The "Christian Mentor" and a book to
Miss G also. We had the din'g room decorated with
flowers & evergreens. several of the girls said they
felt "so happy" when Rev. J. Smith addressed them
there was a many tears shed.
