Thursday.
Sopha Collis when reprimanded for
swearing, said, "I try not to say bad words
but when girls have lived on the streets, as I have done
and [underlined]used[underlined] to [underlined] swearing [underlined], its hard to break off all at once
she promised to pray to God ^[sup] to [end sup] change her heart, and forgive all
her sins and then I told her she would never swear again.

Friday 24th
Very busy finishing the Ships washing
as we promised to have it all ready
tomorrow morn'g.

Mary Nott demanded to go out she tried to raise a
faction amongst the girls, because I
refused to let her go, told them they "were prisoners" &c
she said she wanted to ^ [sup] go [sup] by steamer to Maitland
[underlined] this eve'g [underlined]
that "Father McEnroe would pay her passage."
She threatened to give me a black eye, and A O Brian that she
"would crown her with a paniken of soup." she slapped Sarah Lee in the face, and threatened to put Kate Tubman under the Coppar [copper] &c

Saturday 25th
I went to the Central Market 1/4 7 oclk
with the Messenger and purchased 6/6 worth
vegetables. The linen took all morn'g
for three to count and was taken away
1 oclk. 8,300 peices [pieces] am't of bill £35.3.9
