March 14th
Saturday, went with Jane Drew to three Labor
offices but could not get her a suitable
situation. Received 36. 13. 4 for the
months washg. for S.S. "Ruahine" and lodged it in
the Bank. then called for Jane. hsving left her at an
office in Bridge St.

Sabbath. 15th.
Mr. Moses addressed the inmates this
morng. Revd W. Robson 3 oclk and
a Mr Watt in the eveg.
Kate Barry and Sarah Jane Green have been naughty &
disobedient - would not come to service (3 oclk) when the bell
rang. I then sent a messeage, they sent word back that they
"would not come". I wss then obliged to go up the garden
myself. and after threatening to lock them up &c &c I managed to get them in.

Monday 16th.
Took Jane Drew to Capp's office at 1/2 past
9 oclk. Mr. Deane sent a donation of
£1. 1. 0 by Miss Dunn which I have given to the Treasurer.
Mary Leslie called to ask admittance and said
"do take me in, even if I sleep in the Cottage."

Teusday. [tuesday] 17th.
Sub Comt. 5 ladies present
Eliza Beace was dismissed for swearing and
idleness. Sarah Jane Green reprimanded for
absenting herself from prayer's and using bad
language.

Wednesday 18th.
The second lot of washing (622 pieces)
for S.S "Rakaia" brought this eveg. The whole
to be ready by Saturday. We have had 2 men coloring [colouring] 1 man plastering, one man repairing kitchen stove
and today two carpenters to repair schoolroom &c &c.
