1868. [underscored]

March 9th.
Monday. Mary Mack is engaged to go as
general Servant 9/- pr week with Mr C.C. Sparrow
of "Adelong. Crossing Place". to start tomorrow.
Maria Smith has broken the sink grating through
wanton carlesness. [carelessness] when I remonstrated
with her she said. "well, I want to go out."
"besides, there's no tobacca allowed, when we do behave"

Teusday [tuesday] 10th - Miss Galbraith took Mary Mack to
McKays George St were [where] her future
Master is staying. Mrs McKay said she
had known both him and his wife for
some years, that they were very respectable
They keep a Store and the Post Office.
Sub Comt. met 4 ladies present

Wednesday 11th. Two men from Mr Dean's Comcd -
couloring [colouring] this morng.
Mr A. Hordern, Draper. George St. sent
5 Dozen Hats as a donation to
the Refuge.

Thursday 12th. Eliza Beace behaves very unlike one that
is sorry for her sin. I fear her object in returning
is to induce others to go out with her, for there's a
marked difference in the conduct of Kate Barry and
Sarah J. Green ever since.

Friday 13th Susan Atkins continues quarrelling
and wasting her time, and excuses herself by
saying she "is heartbroken? about her poor husband
and children". I told her, they were better off without her
& if she wished to prove her sympathy and love for them. her
best plan, was to be quiet, industrious, and wel behaved.
