Sept 9th
Monday
Cap't Scott sent M Jane Armstrong
alias McCoy with a policeman requesting admission,
for her. Cap't Scott started in his note that she is a native
of India - an orphan - and quite destitute" she says
that she "was locked up two nights for protection as
the weather was so cold and she had no where to go.

Tuesday 10th
Mary Mack had to appear before the ladies
for singing lewd songs, her case suffered to the general Com't
M. Bellamy went out by her own request.

Wednesday 11th
Amy Fitzpatrick's Mother & step Father called
they said it was their wish that Amy should
return home again. I warned them of the danger
attending such a step, and also that she would have the
privilige [privilege] of receiving from the ladies a good Outfit,
Bible &c. After a consultation they agreed to let her [sup] take a [end sup] situation.

Thursday 12th
Mrs J. Thompson brought us
several packets of choice seeds for the garden.

Friday 13th
Lady Young visited us this aftern'n, said
there was £1000 put on the Estimates for the
Refuge!! by which she hopes we "shall get a nice
dining room for the inmates, and all sorts of
nice things." her ladyship regretted that the
garden had not ^[sup]sufficient[end sup] attention paid to it, and told me to buy a good pair of shears with large hands to cut the
grass and she would pay for them.
