Thursday. at 10 oclk last night Kate Barry came to the gate and said. "If you please Mrs R I have come to give my self up to you, put me in prison, for running away, if you like. I deserve it"
I took in the wanderer, gave her a cup of milk and a bit of bread and meat. Ordered her a good wash, gave her a clean under garment and a blanket. charging her not to wake the inmates [inserted]. She slept on the floor the night she was away. and then was [inserted] turned out in the morng. that there "was bad talk" at the house. if we forgave her she "would never ever run away again"

I went (by request) in search of Eliza Lane's parents and told them of her rudeness before the ladies commt. and warned
them that she would not be received into the Refuge again, if taken out. but they both thought they would like to give her a chance - the Mother said she would give her a good thrashing if she [inserted] did not behave.
Lady Young visited us this afternoon. she mentioned again that she would try to get Mr Parks to get somthing [something] fm. Parliment [parliament]. her ladyship had a long talk with Kate Barry about escaping and the harm it would do [inserted] her.
