April 27th
Matron returned fm "city of Melbourne"
Sat'y 7oclk morn'g and after prayers
wrote a note asking ^[sup] Mr Smith [end sup] if Maria Hodnett
might be received, and also stated that the
storm prevented her return sooner.

Sabbath 28th
Held a Bible Class this morn'g there being
no Minister. Rev'd H. Gaud
preached in the afternoon. Mr. Roberts in
the even'g.

Monday 29th
The rain is pouring in torrents, & what to
do with the clothes I know not, we have
six large fires, before which we, and the girls are
doing all we can to get them dry.

Tuesday 30th
Still no prospect of a change in the
weather and the mail steamer sails
tomorrow

Wednsday 1st May
The rain has not abated, two covered
vans were sent for the clothes, managed to
send all but the blankets.
