December 28th
Friday.
We had a gardener 1/2 a day, to show us
how to manage the gardens and to help to put it
to rights. We got the new shears to trim the borders -
the [underlined] young [end underlined] girls seem pleased with this new employment

Saturday 29th
The Messenger brought a gift of books from
our new Treasurer (Mr Rea) - consisting of
1/2 years No's of "Sunday at Home" and ditto of the
"Leisure Hour"

Sabbath 30th
Mr. Shawson preached 11 oclk and Rev'd H Gaud
3 oclk Mr. F. J Danne in the eve'g.
The services were very solemn. The girls were ceremoniously
attentive and several of them were weeping. May the Lord
bless his word to the saving of their souls.

Monday 31st
Matron took Mary J. Fitzroy and Kate Lee to
Mrs. Capp's labor office. Kate engaged to
Mr. of South Head. She is to go by the first
'mail' in the morn'g.

We had the gardener 1/2 day again by order [underlined] from [end underlined] Lady Young
Sent our messenger to the Panama Steamers office
to request them to send the "Kaikowra's" washing
without delay, as we dont want a bustle
at the end of the month.
