1866.
December 10th.
Monday. Eliz'th Briggs is a very industrious woman
quite different to what we feared at first.

Teusday 11th.
Mary Brown is very noisy and troublesome
instead of doing her work she wanders
about pretending to. but watching a chance
when she finds us engaged then she will get some
of the girls to dance[underlined] with her - knowing at the same
time that it is against the rules.

Wednesday 12th.
Esther's Mother called whilst we were at
prayers (8 oclk) she "wanted to see her girl"
and as she refused to go away Miss G called Matron
she was told it was not[underlined] the time[underlined] to see her & that she had
disturbed our evening worship, she said "well I must[underlined]
see her, I have got a place for her, "but it is out of
the question, I cannot let her out, unless I receive a
note from Rev'd T. Smith." she said she would come tomor'w

Thursday 13th.
Julia O'Shea has again been insolent to
Miss Galbraith. it's to be hoped we may get
her a situation soon - for she seems to think she is
conferring a favor upon us by staying beyond her
12 months time of probation. It is a general
mistake that most of them fall into.

Friday 14th.
