September 16th
Sabbath
All the inmates are clean and orderly and
in tolerably good health - Mr Roberts addressed
them because there was no ministers.

Monday 17th
Ann Scanlon's finger is still so sore that she
cannot work-
I wish I could teach these girls the meaning
of the word duty, and how to perform it, as in
the presence of God. Theres so much eye
service amongst them. I dont know what to do.

Tuesday 18th
Sub com't three ladies present.
Mr. J. Roberts went to tell Esters Mother that
she insisted upon going away and to ask if she
would take her home, "no said the Mother "I have [underlined] done [end
underline] with [underlined] her [end underlined]. I'll never take her back." she however came back with him, and told the girl what she had already said to Mr. Roberts.

Wednesday
Took Eliza Ellis to Mrs. Capps, but she
"had no applications from up country" on our
way out Mrs. White, told her of Ester's bad conduct
she called at the Refuge to talk with her.
Mr. Roberts went in search of Martha Jones. he found two
houses of ill fame kept, one by Eliz'th Riley the other by
Maria Smith.
sent to tell Mrs. Scott, George St. Redfern that her sister
(Jane Davies) wanted to go home to her father, or to leave
with her and requesting her to call to consult about
what is best to do, with her.
