Aug't 18th
Had a cake made for tea tomorrow
to encourages the inmates, as they have had to
work hard lately, and its far better to encourage
them, than to be reproving and fault finding.

Sabbath 19th
Rev'd W. Mills preached 11 oclk.
Rev'd H. H. Gaud 3 oclk. Mr. Pratt Chemist
brought the Rev'd Davies Missionary (South Seas) to give an
address 7 o clk.
all the inmates in attendance

Monday 20th
Received letter from Peter Johston
"Garrows Hasting River" for a Servant
also one from Mrs. Driscol Newcastle expecting
Kate Cagill.

Tuesday 21st
Answered P. Johnstons letter.
wrote to Mrs. Driscol informing her that the
ladies consented to her request.

Mrs. Goodlet thinks Deborah Hardcastle a
suitable woman for a situation as cook in a house
of business at Braidwood, and has recommended her
to the same.

Wednesday22nd
Deborah is engaged - 10/ - pr week for
6 months, went to purchase her outfit - it is
difficult to spare time from the steamers washing
business. Still we are very glad to see Deborah
getting a fresh start in life. she has often said
she was "determined with the help of God never to go
astray again." may she have strength according to her day
