August 14th Tuesday
Received another letter from
Eliz'th Cooper stating that her Mistress
is very kind to her - and that she was recovering.

Wrote two letters this eve'g (1 to Newcastle &
1 to Maitland by order of sub come't)
Dr. Nathan has given orders to take
Alice Wines and Christina Wild to the
Infirmary, for "Syphilus." its too late
(12 oclk) today, so must take them both
tomorrow.

Wednesday 15th
Alice was admitted to the Infirmary
but [sup] not [end sup] Christina, altho Miss G. took a note to ask
them to take her. Christina seems inclined to

Thursday 16th
Mr. Roberts took Christina to the
Infirmary, but they are as crowded
there, that they could not take her in.
Dr. Nathan says, 'it can't be helped, she must
be healed here. Charlotte Lindon is suffering
from secondary Syphilus, and has to take strong medicine
truly Satan is a hard master.

Friday 17th
The work is progressing, most of the
girls have worked cheerfully. although the
clothes were so dirty, the only extra they have
had is tea at 4 oclk (this week)
