August 9th.
Mr. Roberts brought a young girl
age 14 (E. Lane) she has been living with her
married sister but was so naughty - going with
boys, staying out late &c.

Friday 10th
Matron took [sup] (Eliz'th Johnson) [end sup] to the colonial
sct'y [secretary] office for an order, and from
thence to the Infirmary. but when
the [indecipherable] heard that she had a skin disease
he asked "why she was brought there?, that
they had no seperate [separate] room for [underlined] that [end underlined] affliction."
was obliged to bring her back again.

Saturday 11th The responsibility and care of these poor
women is very great, if we might be the honored
instruments in teaching them order and self restraint
they would then have time to think of and make
"Religion their chief concern."
Sabbath 12th. Mr. J. Roberts gave an address 11 oclk [o'clock]
and also at 7 oclk [o'clock], as we had no minister.

all in the Refuge in health and seem happy.

Monday 13th. Rev'd Thos Smith brought Mr. Prince and
Mr. Brewster to visit the Refuge.
