August 4th
Saty
Mag't Conroy asked to be readmitted. She beg'd
very hard, but as she escaped from here only 2 mo's
ago, she was told to come on Tuesday. she has been
three weeks next door, and left through a quarrel
with a fellow inmate whom she [underlined] struck [end underlined] in the face.

Sent a letter to Mr. Hill, stating that we were quite
ready to begin the contract washing, he replied
that it had not been brought on shore yet.

Sabbath 5th
Rev'd Mr. Mills preached 11 oclk
Rev'd Lavers 3 oclk and Mr. Pratt Chemist in
the eve'g. All the inmates attended in number 39.

Monday 6th
Posted a letter to Ellen Wright, urging
upon her to stay (at least) her 12 months that
she was leading an honorable, useful and
independant life in such a good situation too!
Three dray loads of dirty linen brought today
from the "S.S Rokaia."

Tuesday 7th
We have 39 inmates, together with P. Chapman
(the old man) Miss G. Mr & Mrs R. making in all
45 - besides [sup] the messenger two days & Mr Wright to tea [ end sup] a young woman wanted admission
sent her to Mrs. Goodlet.

Wednesday 8th
Another inmate taken in today. Her
Mother lives at a public house. she is only 14
years old. has been neglected and left to run wild
about the streets with boys. she ought to be in
a reformatory school. Dr. Ward has put her little
brother in the Parramatta school -
