1866.
August 2nd.
Thursday, "large bodies move slowly"-
and a Reformatory is wanted
[underline]at once[end underline]!, she very kindly said
"I will speak to Mr. Parkes about it"
May He who can move the hearts of Princes incline our senators
to [sup] supply [end sup] this great want without further delay.
Her ladyship told Christina that she "could not
teach her now[underlined], I look upon you as a polluted thing,
you have been so naughty, no, naughty is [underline] too
mild [end underline] a term, you have been desperatly [desperately] wicked, why, if you had lived in former
times, you would have been stoned[underlined] to death!
for such wickedness," &c &c. Its to be hoped
this severe reprimand has done Christina good,
she asked Mr. Roberts at eve'g prayers if we might
sing "In evil long I took delight,
Unaw'd by shame or fear,
Till a new object struck my sight,
And stopp'd my wild career,".

Friday 3rd. We had no idea of the magnitude of our
request to the Mayor. There are [underline] 24 men [end underline]
sent by him to repair the water pipes, besides
a man and horse to supply us with water.
Dr. Nathan called (in answer to a note
sent this morn'g) to see Eliz'th Johnson
a half cast, who is suffering from skin diseace [disease]
the Dr. says it is the itch,
Dr. N was himself very un well, and had
[underline] both hands [end underline] in a sling. said he would
go home, and get to bed at once.
