May 4th.
Friday. General Com't ladies, 15 present.

Saturday 5th.

Sabbath 6th. Emma Freeman hid herself in an old boiler
in the garden, instead of attending morn'g Service
she gives immence [immense] trouble. When asked
to do anything she says, "I have such an awfull[underlined]
headache". or pain in my side, one day she
had a few spots on her forehead & she actually said she
"could not scrub, because she had such an awfull [awful] forehead".

Monday 7th. The inmates were highly pleased with the
treat-of cake. Fruit and a temperance lecture,
J. Barratt sang "My Mother dear" so beautifully
more than half the audience wept
(Mr. Bannister & the Matron amongst the number).

Teusday 8th. Susan Davies has heard that Roach is in
town - and wants to write to him, we once
hoped this girl was likly [likely] to reform, but the
spirit in which she received the news of his bieng
in town makes me tremble for her.
