We all enjoyed the eve'g entertaiment
and I trust good will insace [?] , 28 of the inmates
signed the pledge, we promised to have a
Temperance meeting once a month, asked to try
to get a few ladies and gentlemen to come - the
announcement was received with great applause.

Tuesday 20th
Mr H. Hassack called 1/2 past 7 oclk this morn'g
took him round the garden, and gave him a
bunch of flowers, says Dr. Heel intends going to
one meeting this even'g.
Louisa Kane was brought before the ladies
Sub Com[e for swearing and Esther Black
for disrespect to Miss Galbraith, grumbling
at her and finding fault at meal times with
whatever Miss G gave her - and [underlined] bad language [end underlined]
also. Annie Kirkwood requested to go out, said she had no fault with the
home only too confining, the ladies tried their
best to induce her to stay but she would not.
