Tuesday 6 so Matron lent her [sup] her own [end sup] hat, and off we
went. We were very succesfull [sucessful]; for
Isabella engaged to go to Mudgee as housemaid
& needlewoman £26 pr an, she is to
go in a few days.

Wednesday Sarah Booths' Mistress called to tell
7th that Sarah was going to be married to a
respectable man, a Stone Mason, he has
a nice cottage of his own and large garden,
the produce of which he sells, she gives
Sarah a most excellent character for
[underline] economy [end underline]
and diligence. "saves every bit of dripping,
peices of candle, [underline] picks [end underlined] up wood for
her boiler so that she has saved a good deal of what others
servants waste, and when her master was ill
she was most kind and attentive, doing much
more that she was asked or expected to do.
