Friday 23rd Been very busy finishing up the
washing for "Ship Persia."
Matron went to get paid by the Capt this morn.

Saturday We are much pressed for want of room to iron
24th two women have to iron in the passage, which
is often the cause of contention, so many
passing to and fro, and when the door is so often
opened - catch, the irons. I found, dust on
the Lamp cloths sparking them sometimes
and what is worse sparking the ironers
temper. Received a basket of vegetables from
Mrs. Hay.

Sabbath Service morn & eveng all the inmates
25th in attendance Eliza Brace seems delighted
with the prospect of going to a situation.
We have done what we could to instill right
principaly, [principally] sincerely hoping our humble endeavours may [sup]be[end sup] blessed.

Monday Emma Fern was cleaning & dusting Miss G
26th room sometime after she saw pincushions
made out of ribbon which she had in her box,
the key having been left in Em had taken the
opportunity, and opened it, and helped herself.

She is a naughty mischievous child, but [sup]from[end but from [inserted] her training little else could be expected for her Mother keeps a "gay house" in Maitland.
