Sep'r 17th
Saturday. 9 oclk this morn'g Christina made her
escape, directly she was missed, Matron
went to "Durans Ally [Durand's Alley]" having been told she
went with Eliz Williams in that direction,
made enquiries in five of those horrid dens, but
had to return with a sorrowfull [sorrowful] heart, alone.
Gave a discription of her, at the Police
Station, which they wrote down, promising to do
their best to find her. Poor Christina I
fear she is now lost and ruined.

Sabbath 18th. Service morn'g and eve'g all in good
health. in numbers 39.
Mr. Roberts has been trying to find Christina
but all in vain.

Monday 19th. Susan Davies was brought in by a Mr. Roach
who, when asked, was he related to her? tried repeatedly
to talk about something else, at last he said
"I am her cousin", When told it was expected
that well to do relatives pay towards their
maintenance he said he was told he "had
only[underlined] to bring her here" Well if you are not
willing to pay, you had better come tomorrow at
3 oclk and consult with the Ladies Com.[committee] "O no
I cant, I sail for California in the morn'g
what am I required to pay? 5/, 6/ or 7/ per week, "I will
give you £10 if you'll promise to be kind to her" & he
separated two notes from a large[underlined] bundle of them, and said Theres two fives & I will pay you well on my return, if you are kind to her - take care of her - dont let her go away".
