Wednesday Went to the Ivy cottage to talk
with Christina and Charlotte, and to
read two books

subdued, and listened attentively, and
wept. when I said, that now both their Mothers
were laid low in the silent grave, we wanted to act the Mothers' part, teach and take care of them, but

Miss Weight did not [inserted] come today to teach, as she was ill and had a fit.

Thursday Ellen Holmes asked to speak privately with
8th the Matron, when she said "I might as well

my children are not all dead, as I told you,
but my husband is alive, and my children
are doing well, one is married to a settler,"
told her how wrong it was to deceive the ladies
