Jan 29th
Monday. Hannah having received a summons
to attend the coroners inquest, which she
was obliged to attend by 10 oclk. she was advised
to return at once and be sure not betray
the confidence we put in her by allowing
her this favor, she replied "O no Mrs Roberts
I am for ever obliged, and I'll come home straight
from the inquest. She did not return, therefore
sent Miss Galbraith to Mr Wiseburgh to enquire if
she had been there? " she [underlined] had [end underlined] to fetch her late son's clothes, and abused him (Ms W) and charged him with [underlined] keeping back [end underlined] part of her boys clothing. although he paid for a Doctor, a Cab
to take him to the infirmary and all funeral expences [expenses] !!!

Tuesday Hannah has not returned, and we
30th fear she is gone astray again. it will be
very sad if she has, an awfull [awful] providence like this
is sur to be either a sanctified blessing or a curse.
Soon after Mrs. Goodlet arrived this afternoon
Hannah made her appearance which was far
from being improved since her absence, and
tended to confirm my fears about her.
Mrs. Bergen. Ashfield sent a box of fruit, and a quantity
of herbs.

Miss Little and a friend called, they were invited to
see the inmates at tea. They were surprised to see such
a crowd, and thought we needed a larger room.
They then took a walk through the lower part of the
house then to the garden. the sight of little
Emma "in a place like this" shock'd them, we told Em
to shew the ladies her garden, that Lady Young gave
her, Miss Little told her she hoped that she would be a
good and obedient girl and all would be kind to
her, when going away she kindly gave the Matron
