Tuesday, Lady Young and Lady Taylors
16th visited the garden and school, each girl
that had a garden was asked to come and
shew [show] it to them. When Lady Young spoke
encouragingly to them promising
them a plentifull [plentiful] supply of plants when it
was time to transplant and gave another
£1, towards its culture.
When little Emma reluctantly owned that
she had been naughty (having broken off
some delia buds and bit them to peices [pieces]
for which she had to stand behind the door
for an hour) Lady Young said to her "always
tell the truth, we all do wrong sometimes
I am very naughty - often, but then we must
pray to be made good"-
