November 14th
Teusday. Sarah Booth having been here 6 months (the time fixed by her late mistress) and conducted herself so well, that she is to go back to her service again. we made a large cake and put a white flag on a knitting pin in its centre, with 'Farewell dear Sarah' on it, and when all the 34 inmates were seated, and Miss Lloyd at one end of the table, Mr Roberts at the other ( the breakfast ready laid) the Matron brought in the cake which created quite a sensation when that had subsided Mr Roberts gave a short address showing how much better it was to have a good character & and to go with the ladies full consent. &c
Sarah Watson is much worse, sent for Dr. Nathan, she had a fit, she seems in a dying state.

Wedensday, 15th. Dr. Nathan called again this morng. he says Sarah is too ill to go to the Infirmary.
Matron went to read for her, and talked with her, about the importance of repentance and prayer.

Thursday 16th Mr Moore from Botanical Gardens called by special request from Lady Young to see our garden,
after he had been round the garden, in the school, laundry and iorning room, and had asked a many questions about the working of the institution and the conduct of its inmates, if there was any good results, &c. &c. he seemed greatly interested.
He is going to send whatever he is able to move, at this unfavorable time of the year and a man to plant them but said it must be distinctly understood that the
