Went to the Infirmary to see Ellen Wright, she "had not undergone the operation yet, the Doctors
are trying diet & medicine first." she suffers from
confusion in the head. she promised to read a chapter
every morn. and eveng. - urged upon her the duty of prayer.
Lucy Herbert came 1/2 past 9 oclk. by steamer from
Newcastle, she wept bitterly, and when asked why she came such a distance, said she ran away from her situation, fearing her mistress would find out that she was with child by her son (20 years old + what made you come to the Refuge? I heard my Mistress speak about it, and I thought I had better come here.
