Wednesday. Mary Ann Grant is so poorly, not able to eat, gave her arrowroot and milk. Took Susan Johnson to the Randwick School to see her children, started 1/4 past 10 oclk returned at 1 oclk She was very thankfull and promises to be "happy now!"

Thursday 7th M. Ann said she could not rise from her bed today. Gave her a book to read, and persuaded her to try to dress and walk out in the sun shine. the poor thing seems bowed down with grief.
Revd. C R. Orde held service this eveng. and kindly promised to try to come every thursday eveng. all the inmates (29) attended and were exceedingly well behaved.
Maria Smith brought a note for her readmission. she was very dirty, having spent money for rum which was given for lodging.

Friday 8th Went out on private business at 1/2 past 9 oclk returned 1 oclk. Mr. Caldwell called to see the garden and decided to send an additional man to work at it. as the work was heavy. there is tons of rubbish to dispose of.

Saturday 9th The gardners have began digging pits out of which they will get soil for the garden and then replace it, by all the rubbish of which there are many tons!! Old iron - bones, lead and about 2 cart load of building stone.
