Sarah Ferrington was restored to her parents. She had been in the Refuge 4 months before they knew what had become of her, wither she was living or dead. she has been in the Refuge now 12 months, the Ladies in committee endeavored to persuade the parents to let her go to service up the country away from her former bad companions. but they would not.

Wedensday [wednesday]
16th
The messenger brought 11 banana trees and some grape vine cuttings from Lady Young, as Miss Donne, of the [eng?] school very kindly came 1/2 past 4 oclk, to teach our girls to plait the straw for cabbage tree hats. the knowledge of which will be of great use, thereby furnishing employment, when we cannot get any other work.

Thursday
17th
We had all hands that could be spared, busily engaged dign [digging] plantg [planting] and clearing the garden. they worked very well and enjoyed the change of employment. the exercise seemed to make them happy and contented.
Miss Ravenshill of Deaf and Dumb school called to tell that she wrote to Mr. May Randwick School to inquire about what kind of marking ink they used to brand their inmates clothes, and he said M. Senior, chemicals George Str. mixed theirs. Shall send there this eveng for some. bv Mrs. Webb came with Mrs. Ravenshill & has promised to send her washing. Mr. Caldwell went through the house. when in the kitchen he observed how impoverished our stock of crockery was, and asked what we needed he made a memorandum & promised to send a supply.
Mrs. Ferrington called to ask if we had her daughter that she was sewing yesterday afternoon when all at once she rose put on her bonnet, walked out, and they never saw her since.
