July. 2nd.
Sabbath. Mr Selby preached 11 oclk. Mr. Fletcher 3 oclk. and Mr A Howitt - 7 oclk.
Mr Fletcher said he was astonished to find the girls so well behaved, and attentive.
Mr. A. Howitt brought the "Pilgrims Progress" a present to Elizth. Thompson. Louisa Hinton called in the aftern. {afternoon] "to see the inmates" her address was taken another was told, the matron would call, and if her mistress gave her a good character she should see them when ever she liked. she staid [stayed] to aftern [afternoon] service.

Monday 3rd Our receipt's [receipts] for the last month are 23.6.5. pounds only, but we hope to get more work this month. the mangle being out of repair has been a drawback.

Teusday,[Tuesday] 4th Mrs Hare called to say, that Elizth Thompson was to start [inserted] on Monday next for Bathurst. the news acted like a balmy breeze throughout the Refuge. the inmates seem to gather fresh strength and incouragement [encouragement], through seeing Elizth getting a situation so soon.

Wedensday [Wednesday] Sarah Bates has had palpitation of the heart, we will try rest, for a few days then if not better we must call in the Doctor.

Thursday 6th The mangle is now in good working order & refixed today. Mary Mitchell has been much quieter, and attended to her work. She often begs of the Matron to "try and get her a situation ". and says "she will never get intoxicated again" that she has learnt a lesson by dear experience.
