Friday. 23rd. Lady Young and Lady Taylour [Taylor?] visited
the Refuge., School &c.
Cultivation of flowers, as tending to make the home cheerfull [cheerful]. when Lady Young was informed that the girls were busy ( in their spare hours) preparing a piece of ground for a garden, his [her] ladyship kindly offered to supply all the trees
roots and slips. also gave 5/- for a cake.

Saturday 24th Jane Drew behaves well, she has not given the least trouble, since she came in (five months ago) there is geat comfort and satisfaction to the benevolent in thier [their] having provided a home for such where they have time and opportunity to spent and reform.

Sabbath 25th Revd. W. Mills. held service 11 oclk. [oclock]. and Revd. J Bickford 3 oclk. Mr Short & Mr Robins in the even [evening] all the inmates were in attendance clean and well behaved and all in good health. O that they might be led to the
fountain opened for sin and uncleanness[underscored]

Monday 26th The messenger brought a clothes basket full of plants, from Lady Young. we are to send in a month for some Fuschias &c.

Teusday. [Tuesday]. Maryann Burns asked "to go out", at 1/2 past 10 oclk. the matron had entered to rest, all the inmates had been in [inserted] their rooms at least an hour , she was prevailed upon (at last) to stay but [inserted] such conduct is exeedingly [exceedingly] trying and is also a bad example to the younger girls.
