Gentlemens general committee.

After 4 of the gentlemen had visited the School
Mary Maker said "I ought to know him ( pointing to our treasurer) for he gave me three months in goal [gaol] for Nothing. Mrs Campbell visited the school and was pleased to see Mary Maker, getting such a privilige [privilege] and conversed with her for a length of time, on the advantage education would be to her &c. she told Mrs C that she would stay for she was very happy.

Saturday 3rd Whilst the Matron was busily engaged making the washing bills Mary Maker came and asked for her "clothes because she wanted to go out" she had been saying before that, in Melinda's hearing " I'm blessed if I'll stay in this ______ there's not as much as a smoke to be had, I'd sooner be in goal [gaol] I can get a smoke there," Matron advised her to stay till teusday [tuesday], "No, she would go over the wall if not let out,"
but you will be put in charge, if you go with clothing belonging to the Refuge she "did not care" and used most fearfull [fearful] language. at last wearied out with her noise the Matron steped [stepped] out through the comm. room door (leaving her at the Parlor [?] door, cursing and swearing) & went to Denrands Alley to try and find her father, as
