Monday. Rev.d [Reverend] J Graham and his wife called. Mrs Graham was asked if Mr Graham could spare time to give an address. he cheerfully consented and all were collected in a few minutes. 28 (in number)
In the even [evening] Revd. Thos. [Thomas] Smith came and [?] preached from 19th Luke 10 verse. "For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost". as many of the girls wept, and all listened with profound attention. This has indeed been a day long to be remembered at the Refuge, when two such men of God visited us, may the precious seed sewn by them both spring up abundantly.
Teusday [tuesday]. 23rd Rev.d Mr Taylor came at 11 oclk [o'clock] by appointment to preach. All the inmates were attentive and well behaved. Revd. W. Curmon Revd. W Fidler Mr J Hirarne [?] & Mr Reeve, came with him. He promised to send a set of his books, a present for the use of the inmates.
Mr Caldwell "Treasurer" sent cake 2 1/2 doz. Bath buns, Muscatels, nuts, Lollies Tea Sugar, Biscuits 2lb. butter, 6 lbs jam as a treat for the queens birthday. The remainder of our Oranges were distributed today.
