1.3.4 ALEXANDER HOPE (b. and d. 1858)

Alexander Hope was born in 1858 at Darriwill and died on 23 December 1858 and
was buried in Geelong.

1.3.5 ISABELLA HOPE (1859-1939)

Isabella hope was born on 25 December 1859 at Darriwill and died on 26 May 1939
at Moorabool, Victoria.

1.3.6 GEORGE ROWLAND HOPE (1861-1920)

George Rowland Hope was born on 16 October 1861 at Darriwill and in 1894
married in Agnes Gray Wallace, daughter of Reverend William Campbell Wallace, a highly educated
clergyman who was later to become Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Victoria. He also
became Principal of Alexander College, Hamilton and helped in petitioning the government to
establish a new state school in Batesford.285 George Rowland Hope died on 30 July 1920 at
Camperdown. They had the following children: Rowland Wallace Hope who was born on 2
January 1896 at Camperdown and died on 6 May 1971 at Geelong, and married in 1921 Dorothy
Agnes Schlesinger; James Wallace Hope who was born on 5 October 1898 at Camperdown and
went to Malaya; Douglas Wallace Hope who was born on 29 June 1902 at Camperdown and died
on 2 March 1977, and married in 1927 Nora Salmon; and George Wallace Hope who was born on
28 October 1905 at Camperdown and married in January 1937, Kathleen Buton Smith.

1.3.7 EDWARD CULBERTSON HOPE (1864-1935)

Edward Culbertson Hope was born on 23 January 1864 at Darriwill, and married on
2 July 1891 in London, Emmeline Jackson, a widow who had two sons. He died on 20 November
1935.

1.3.8 WILLIAM WAUGH HOPE (1866-1942)

William Waugh Hope was born on 23 January 1866 at Darriwill, and married on 23
April 1900 at Mosman, New South Wales, Mary Isabella Waugh. He died on 16 September at
Barwon Heads and was buried at Geelong. She died on 3 February 1944 and was also buried at
Geelong. They had two children: Marianne Waugh who was born in 1902 and married in 198=28
Peter Walter Hopkins; and Edward Marsden Hope who was born on 27 January 1906 at Colac and
married firstly, Shelia Giderson who died on 21 August 1938 in Melbourne and secondly, Helen
Margaret McKenzie.

1.3.9 DAVID MARSDEN HOPE (1869-1910)

David Marsden Hope was born in 1869 at Geelong and died on 29 September 1871
at Darriwill and was buried at Geelong.
