Addition to p.88

In the Queensland Government Gazette for 1878 it was noted that Robert Francis Hassall
of Oxley was newly licensed as a surveyor.

Robert Francis Hassall invested in some rural property on which he ran cattle. In
Queensland Brands Directory for 1899 he is listed as having a property at Mt. Crosby, Kholo,
Ipswich and his brand was O7y .

A comment in The Week for 30 June 1888 remarked that Robert Francis Hassall was well known
in Brisbane and Ipswich and was very popular in Esk. Details of his death were recorded:

"Mr. R.F. Hassall, a well known surveyor at Esk, died rather suddenly on Monday last.
He had been unwell for a week. On Sunday he had a severe attack of vomiting, which
continued for some time, and left him in a weak state and he finally succumbed at 2
o'clock on Monday morning".

R. F. Hassall, together with F. W. Ellis, surveyed the area of Ravensbourne Station near Blackall
in 1888. It was surveyed into forty acre blocks and a large portion was set aside for a National
Park.
