Very Dear Friend,
Although I have but lately
& written to you by my Brother in law who
took a passage in the Q. Charlotte; and
tho' Saml's going in the Active supersedes
the necessity of my now writing to you by
way of giving you news - and tho I am
hurried, yet I cannot concern it
concistant with the friendship that sub
sists between us to omit writing tho' my
letter be ever so short. Having fully
stated to you in my letter by James Shepherd,
(which I hope has reached you by this time)
my object in sending Sam' to the Colony,
and views and wishes respecting him, I need
not here repeat them. I shall only observe
that I shall be very thankful if it will answer
for him to be put to learn his business
