My Dear Friend,
Tho my papa's letter to you
by the present conveyance makes my writing
to you unnecessary - by way of giving you
news, yet must give you a few lines to
convince you of the continuence of my friend
ship, and that what you have said to my
papa respecting me has not given me the
smallest offence. on the contrary I sincere
ly thank you for the concern you there
by manifest for my welfare. My long
silence indeed needs an apology. It was
owing to shame on acount of what you had
heard concerning me. I hope you will pardon
it and let me hear from you as formerly.
I hope this will find you well. I am myself
troubled with pains which perhaps are growing
