My Very Dear Friend,

Your letters by Captain Martin
yielded me peculiar pleasure – The
information you have taken the trouble
kindly to communicate to me respecting
my Dear Daughter, together with infor-
mation concerning her I have recd from
Mrs. Marsden, Mr. Eyre, & other Colonial
friends afforded me much gratification
and excited my thankfulness to God
and those who were so kind to take
[original crossed out] the trouble to communicate it.
You will readily conceive that my
anxiety to hear from herself must be
great; and I will be able to judge of my
disappointment and feelings on not
receiving this gratification neither by
Captain Martin or Walker. Indeed I have
