I have intimated to you in a former letter.
That letter of his, however breathing the true spirit
of friendship & Christian affection, and I not being
conscious of having given him any cause of offence
I am inclined to think he must have written [original crossed out]
to me since tho' I have not been favoured with the
reception of any letters from him; and therefore
I have written to him once more by Capt. Powel of the Brig
Endeavour. I mention this circumstance to you
[original crossed out] least [lest] that letter should miscarry and
he remain ignorant of my having written to him
by that conveyance. I therefore request you will
be kind enough to give my kind respects to Mrs.
Hall & himself & acquaint with that circumst
circumstance; & that [original crossed out] you [original crossed out] will
let me know the result of your so doing when
you next write to me. Please also to inform
me if you can, whether the mats we have sent to
Mrs Birnie by Captn. Campbell prove acceptable.
Glad should we be to have something more worthy of
her acceptance to transmit to her. I wrote to her
by Mrs Shelley [original crossed out] with the few
things I then sent her but never since received
any mileage from her; by which I suppose they are
nothing thought-of; and have not written with those
now sent by Captn. Campbell, but only [original crossed out] put
a direction on the bundle with Mrs Henry's best respects.

My dear partner joins in affectionate respects to yourself
Father, mother, & all the family, with yours most

sincerely & affectionately
W Henry

Saml desires his affectionate
remembrance to you & hopes you will
excuse his not writing to you now as he has so lately
written by Capt. Martin.
