are they who hear the word of God & keep it
[indecipherable] has he anywhere santioned our prayers
to the Saint & [indecipherable] - Is if we pray to him
we must think they are every where pre-
sent & consequently equal to the Jewish [indecipherable]

On another occasion we were led to
converse on the use of images in the Roman
Catholic Church - I saw they were strictly
forbidden by the law of God & pointed to the
[indecipherable] - Thou shalt not make to thyself
[indecipherable] - He replied but we do not worsh-
ip the Image - if you had friend
you loved very dearly who was absent would
you not like to get his picture to look
at so that you might think of him - This
is the way we use the images & pic-
tures in our Church - I replied that it was
expressly forbidden to make any likeness of
God or to bow down to it & that he must know
the poor people bowed down before the Image
of our Saviour who was [indecipherable]
