up for the weekend & sang a duet with another girl.

Got a birth announcement from Sally & Allyn
about their new little girl, & another snapshot
from Pat, who is expecting again. Seems like both
of them just got married.

Today I was going to make brownies, but deci-
ded against it, in favor of letter-writing. I should
hear any day now, on whether I'm eligible to take
the civil service test I applied for. If I am, it
will take months to wade through the red tape to
actual employment, so with nothing but the
right shift in progress. I may take one course at
Jan Jose next semester if I find one I like.

Since I've been on night shift, Jim's mother has
been cooking & we do the dishes. I'd rather cook
than do dishes any day, but her meals taste so
much better & we do a little collaborating,
since Jim & I buy the groceries.

The Cosmopolitan Opera Co. season will soon be
on & I've sent for a list of performances. Chick
has really made a study of the subject, & this
year I think I'll go to a few with her, & learn
something besides Don Giovanni. I've let my
record collection lapse in the past few years
for lack of a machine, but we've got the
components for a beauty, if we can ever
get around to assembling & finishing it.

Well, that's about all there is to say, since
we don't do much except stay home, work on our
projects, pay our bills, & count our money.

Love Marcia
