Wensday 24 Marched 1/2 past
five oclock. Passed through Harrisonburgh
quite a town Co town of Rockingham
rode some on the guard horse
passed through Mt Crawford
and Mt Sidney got on a Stage and
rode 15 miles to Stanton Stoped at the
Va House a fine House paid 500
for supper & bed paid $110
green back for $20 con scrip am thankfull
that I was enabled to endure the march
Stanton a considerable town capital
of Augustis Co. Doct Simpers roomed with me

Thursday 25 took the Cars
for Richmond 1/4 past 7 oclock passed
Wanes borough. University Charlott
ville, Louisa Court House
Gordonville, Hanover Junction
Beaver Dams, Hanover Court
House. Passed through the blue
Ridge tunel five minutes
arrived at Richmond little after 6 ock
great Grove(?) Pleasant to see the families
marched by a guard to Lilly papers
and money taken from
us and a receipt given put on the
second floor 150 officers in it no
supper to night laid on the floor
nothing under me promised a
coat from Doct (__) for me.
