Wensday 8 early this morning
I left Harpers Ferry for Barry
ville in Co with the quarter
master Capt Cristie Doc Fomon
and a guard over teh waggons I
rode Doc Simpers Horse our
journey led us through the
Shanando Valley rich and
beautifull we passed through
charles town the county
town of Jefferson County Saw
the court House in which
John Brown was tried and
condemned to death (__)
is the (__) principle in
this town the citizens would
turn their head from us
we arrived at Barryville 1/2 past
one the boys soon put my
tent and store up I sleep
this night in head quarters
on the floor I dont think
I was ever more tired in all
my life I rode 20 miles
to day am in good health
for which I feal thankfull
