Slightly warmer day. Ollie came early saying her mother had died at 5.30. A terrible shock & loss to me. I feel shattered. Hardly one left. Mrs Morgan & I in and out. I told Mrs Fogden. K.S.P. came at 3.30 & we had tea. Delys & Arthur came at 5.45 bringing much good food & we had a rich meal of mushrooms with bacon, scollops, potatoes & custard with orange rings. They left after 9. I cleaned out sink cupboard etc & got to bed a little after ten. Did a bit on par for essay. Washed a line of woollens, cleaned silver & door knobs, watered seedlings shattered by Mrs C’s death. Arthur did numerous chores, fixed hose & transoms & put a mend-it on dish.
