preventing [one?] from attending in
person. The meeting of the Faculty, Dr [Cabell?]
is kind enough to offer to read in my behalf
what I would say, if present, touching
the proposition to [involve?] the co-operation
of the Y.M.C.A of the University in obtaining
money to complete the Chapel, and also
to [erect?] a Hall for the [one?] of the Association.
I was prevented, by [exerting?] engagement,
from attending the meeting of
the Chapel committee, whose [report?] is now
to be considered by the faculty, and so had
not an opportunity to present my views to
my colleagues there, as if I had been present,
I should have felt object to do.
No one will be better pleased than
I to adopt any methods which I can see
will not prejudice the University, and are allowable
in [themselves?], in order to [relieve?] us
who are under [it?], from the load of [?]
