Sir,

With reference to the payment within referred to
as I have now received an order from the Board
for payment of the amount, I will thank you
to return the receipts of Scarlett and Maiden for
£1-each that I may annex the same to the
payment order in the usual manner. I am Sir

-pect of the stranded vessel "Lady Seale" forwarded to
you the other day through Lt. Poynter,-till the,
Labourers you employed are paid and settled with

My dear sir

I think you mistake about paying - Milne and
the other two men are the salvers, - they hired the
workmen and it is their business to see them paid
you sent me a List of labourers, and fixed their ear
of hire, and the List was afterwards corrected un
-der your directions,- I have obtained the amount
shown at the foot of the List, and it is the business
of Milne and the two other salvers to make the pay
-ments,- Had I contemplated a withdrawal from
this duty I should not have sent Milnes salvage
of £40 for which I {should} will hold him responsible
till the Labourers he employed are pais, and
I have written to him to that effect, - The salvage
awarded to the two other men (£40) I still have
in my hands, and shall retain possession of the
same until those Labourers are settled with,
