Tallow could not be had he has deposited with
me £15. 15. 0. to represent the same, I
had the premises of Mr Smith searched & no
tallow was found thereon. Mr Yates informed
me that, he and his predecessor having for
many years been in the habit of purchasing
once and sometimes twice weekly, fat, from Mr
Smith and his father. It therefore appears
to me that there is not anytning unfair in
the proceedings of Mr Smith & Mr Yates.
Mr Smith has informed me that since
this inquiry has been on foot, he has been
informed by Leonard Barker that the Tallow
he sold him was pulled up on the sea shore. I have
reported this case to the Commissioners of Her Majesty, Customs
