I have just been informed
that the Prussian Vessel "Carl Auguste" -
which sank on the morning of the 17th inst
after having been in collision with the
Steam Vessel "Scandinavian" was yesterday
floating bottom upwards - a little within
the Spurn Point, - and that two Smacks
were hovering near her. - of which circumstance
I will thank you to appraize the Elder
Brethren of the Trinity House.

I beg to acquaint you that.-
on the morning of the 17th instant, the Steam
Vessel "Scandinavian" - from Gothenberg to this
Port, when about midway between Spurn
Point and Grimsby, came in collision with
the Prussian Barque "Carl Auguste" from
Taganrog with Linseed, also for this Port -
when the last named Vessel sank.
I am informed that on the 20th she
floated - and has since been drifting about
in the locality named. - of which I beg
to appraize you should you deem it necessary
with reference to Article 11 Page 9 of Instructions
respecting Wrecks - to give any directions thereon
to the Inspecting Commanders of the Coast
Guard at Grimsby and Patrington.
