October last. I beg to acquaint you that
on the 29th following I proceeded
to Bridlington for the purpose of
receiving from the representative of
the late Mr Stephenson several anchors,
chains &c that had been deposited
by Salvors in the admiralty yard during
the time he held the office I now fill
on which occasion my travelling
expenses amounted to Thirteen shillings.
I request to be informed whether I am
to charge the said sums of 13/= against
the proceeds of sale of the said anchors
together with such other expenses I
may incur when I attand the sale after
the 7th proximo as whether I am to submit
the same for your approval in order
that I may be re-paid such expenses
in the manner provided by a General
order of the Customs Department Nov 179/ 1855
