Hull - which is on the north bank of the
River Humber, is about 20 miles from Spurn
Point - which is at the entrance of the
River - I am receiver of wreck for the
Bridlington district - which extends from
Spurn Point to Flambro Head - within
those limits, - Hornsea and Bridlington
are the most prominent places -
Hornsea is on the coast, about midway
between Spurn Point and Bridlington
and distant from Hull, - by Turnpike
road about 18 miles - Bridlington in
the bight of the Bay of that name, - is distant
from Hull, - by railroad about 32 miles
Hull therefore which is the principal seat
of business in this district, - Having 5 large
Docks and a Harbour, - more or less
constantly filled with shipping from
different parts of world, - may almost
be said to be an inland port - and
its Distance from Bridlington and Hornsea
combined with the very onerous and important
Duties - I have to attend to on the Spot -
